Step 1: Download the following compressed/zipped file to your 'computer' NOT to the 'phone'. Step 2: After downloading the file, extract the files inside the zip folder to a location on your computer. There are two files named ... "regedit.Mrln_ARM.cab" Open a Window, which we will call window #1 showing the two extracted/unzipped files. Step 3: Using the program ActiveSync (came with the phone) select "Explore Pocket PC" under the "Tools" drop menu from the top menu bar. This will create what we will call window #2. Double Click the "My Documents" icon on window #2. (Yes, you can use a different folder or the storage card, I am only providing "My Documents" for ease of use, feel free to chose your own folder and location). Select the two files mentioned above in window #1 and copy the two extracted/unzipped files ending in '.cab' to window #2. Remember, the files must be already extracted/unzipped before installing. * The reason for this is that the software running the phone understands files ending in '.cab' as installation programs. Don't let the '.cab' extension fool you. Step 4: Using 'File Explorer' on the phone, locate the file "Signed_MMS3.0.6.22_Apache_VZW_26Sep05.CAB" If File Explorer is not located in your programs folder, select start, then settings, then menus. Scroll down and place a check in the box next to 'File Explorer'. Select 'OK' and now under the Start menu, File explorer will appear. You can remove it later if you do not need to use it on a regular basis. Click on the file "Signed_MMS3.0.6.22_Apache_VZW_26Sep05.CAB" and a message will appear indicating where do you want to install "Arcsoft Arcsoft MMS". (Yes, it may show Arcsoft twice, I know, but I didn't write the patch) Select your preference 'device' or 'storage card'. If space permits, we recommend the 'device' option in case you change storage cards frequently. And press install. It will then prompt you to restart the device upon installation completion. Choose 'OK' Step 5: After the phone resets, use 'File Explorer' on the phone, and locate the file "regedit.Mrln_ARM.cab" Click on it and a message will appear indicating where do you want to install "PHM Registry Editor". Select your preference 'device' or 'storage card'. If space permits, we recommend the 'device' option in case you change storage cards frequently. And press install. To install select 'OK'. On installation, it sometimes produces an additional note indicating it may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile. However, it still worked on Mobile 5.0. After installation select OK in the upper right corner and close out of file explorer. Step 6: Under Start, then Programs, there will now be a new program called "PHM RegEdit" Select PHM RegEdit. There will be typically four lines displayed under 'My Device', they are ... HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Click the '+' symbol left of the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE line. Step 7: Hang in there, you are almost done! Step 8: Close out of programs or any other items so you have a clean main screen. Select 'Messaging' (where you normally go to send/receive text messages) In addition to the standard 'Outlook e-mail' and 'Text messages' lines you should also have 'MMS' Hang in there, like I said, almost done. In the lower right corner under 'menu', you should have the option 'MMS Configuration', select it. On the first tab (tabs are at the bottom) we left the preferences options alone. If you want to experiment, go ahead. What's important is the second tab 'Servers', select it. Under the servers tab, select 'Verizon Wireless' Change the value in the server name box from
'Verizon Wireless' to 'sprintpcs' select 'OK' The worst is now over. Testing time. Take a picture with the camera however you use it. Then choose the icon indicating you want to e-mail the picture. It will now give you the option of emailing the picture or sending MMS. MMS is what you use for sending picture messages. Hopefully this patch keeps working, Enjoy !
